Lycopodiaceae of India

Majority of the Indian floras did not include vascular cryptogams, even Beddome (1883, 1892) in his treatise “A Handbook to the Ferns of British India, Ceylon and Malay Peninsula” and its supplement excluded fern-allies. No serious attempt has been made so far to study Lycopodiaceae on Indian basis except some fragmentary reports on localised basis. Keeping in view of the inadequate knowledge on this family revisionary studies have been taken up on Indian basis. Key to the genera and species, current nomenclature, detailed description, historical review, anatomy, cytology, distribution and illustrations of all the species have been provided to facilitate easy identification in the field and herbarium. This book will be useful for both the research workers as well as the students of Botany to know the primary and detailed knowledge on this neglected group of plants.
