In the last 10 years, LC-MS has transformed analytical chemistry and now is routinely used in a large number of laboratories. This book is aimed at technicians/workers in these laboratories who wish to understand the technique, but perhaps don't have a strong chemistry background. Because of its importance in industry LC-MS has also become a larger part of analytical chemistry course in university and this book is also useful to students studying these courses, who presently can only learn about the technique from mass spectrometry or HPLC books. This book forms a title in the "Analytical Techniques in the Sciences" series, which replaced the ACOL series in 1998. The four books currently contracted for this series are Currell or Analytical Instrumentation, Monk or Electro-analytical Chemistry, Stuart/Polymer Analysis and Cole or Analysis of Drugs of Abuse. Technique-based books always sold very well in the ACOL series and this book will be the first such book in the new series.
