Law Society and Polity: an Annotated Bibliography in North Eastern Persprctives

In the discipline of folkloristics, there is a concept of 'meta folklore'- that denotes explanation and interpretation of folklore about folklore. It was noted folklorist Alan Dundes who brought the concept of metafolklore to refer to folkloristic statements about folklore. It is rightly borrowed the term to signify the present book- as 'meta book'- a book about booksthat has close nexus with the ethnic populace, their society, law and customary laws, legal dimensions, polity and others in the context of north eastern region. The north eastern region perhaps, needs no further introduction, as it not only signifies a particular direction but a large territory, conglomeration of region that passed through various phases of history right from assembling of diverse racial or sub-racial elements, communities in different points and phases of time, saga of rulers, kings and chieftains, pre and post-Ahom period, colonial administration, grouping of tribal spectrum, emergence of vibrant culture, customary laws and practices, demarcation of geographical unit after independence and development of interest of colonial and native scholars for writing books.
