A young holidaying couple finds a love note and an old, slightly torn diary washed up on the Brahmaputra beach. It formerly belonged to an unknown Assamese beauty going by the name Ranee who gives a classic portrait of her small godforsaken village buried in a wilderness of coconut palms, succulent mango groves and a river slashing across. She writes about all the people dear to her, and her passionate relation with her college sweetheart, Krisnaa; the dark forbidding secrets they shared; the ancient isle temple they explored to find a new romance and meaning in their lives; the turbulent moments in her personal life she survived; her crazy attempts at suicide twice and many other misadventures that shook up the village, and later Krisnaa’s midnight act of rescuing his drowning sister, Baby, when she tried to kill herself in the river. Each diary page rolled like an epic movie, going back in time to talk about momentous historical events that scarred the land. The diary kept gaining momentum, completely hooking the holidaying couple reading it even as the sun was sinking in the horizon. Just as they were reaching the last page in breathless thrill to know what would unfold next, something very beautiful occurs on the beach itself…something no human could fantasize.
