Indian Writing in English

Indian writing in English is a relatively-recent phenomena, as far as literature goes. Though one can trace such writers in India to a century back, Indian writing in English has come into force only in the last couple of decades or so. Some of these writers have achieved worldwide fame, some national, and other perhaps have to be content with a more constricted circle. Indian writing in English refers to the works by writers in India who write in the English language and whose native or co-native language could be one of the numerous languages of India. At present, the flight of the Indian writer to foreign lands is more a rule thatn an exception.
