Globalisation and Health Sector in India is research publication of the author prepared for the Global Trade Programme of Jadavpur University under the UGC's Potentials for Excellence Scheme. This book examines the implication of globalisation of services under the GATS Treaty for the Health sector of the Indian economy during the post-reform period. The book covers an analysis of globalisation, GATS and health sector, provides a critical review of the literature on health and economic development and portrays an economic analysis of interstate variations in health sector performance in India and examines the efficiency of these health-related outcomes in rural sector of the economy. The book also points to the link between poverty, under-nutrition and morbidity in India, and suggests policy interventions to tackle the problems faced by the health sector in India in the liberalised regime.
