Global Climate Change and Agricultural Production: Direct and Indirect Effects of Changing Hydrological Pedological

Produced on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, this book is the result of the meeting on Global Climactic Change and Agricultural Production held in Rome, December 1993. Issues covered include the CO2 anti-transpiration effect and the adverse effects of elevated levels of UV-B radiation and ozone on plant growth and production and livestock. The global picture of these effects is also studied—for instance, the effects of changes in the world hydrological cycle, the regional availability of water resources and the effects of global climate change on soil conditions an its implications on food production. Modelling techniques are also discussed.
