Exploration of flora, at certain intervals, is of apex importance to assess the status of plant wealth of a country. In this comprehensive volume, the authors have explored the present floristic status of the relevant study-region based on the previous study of H.H. Haines (1921-1925) which was carried out about 80 years ago. Haines (1921-1925) made a sketchy overview in this region. The study-area is in Central India, is a free region (without enough topographical barriers), inspite of this, as many as 15 new records of distribution have been noted for the first time by the present authors from this area. Indigenous and medicinal uses of a number of species have also been reported which will pave the way for further understanding of phyto-therapeutic research. Threatened/rare status of a few species has been highlighted that deserves attention of IUCN. Up-to-date nomenclature of about 800 angiospermic species has given. Artificial keys provided a manual for easy identification of the taxa on the field. This book has 8 Herbarium Plates numbered A to H alongwith 15 coloured Photographs as well as 13 figures of the species including map of Sambalpur District (Orissa).
