Book Summary of Fisheries Development In India 0 About the Author Dr. Ramakrishnan Korakandy (b. 1950), M.A., M.Phill, PhD. Is Profesor of fisheries Economics at the School of Industrial Fisheries of the Cochin University of Science and Techonology at the Lakeside Campus at Emakulam. He is a first generation learner teaching fisheries economics and guiding research at the School of Industrial fishereis for the past 29 years. He was the Director of the School during 2002-2005. Dr. Ramakrishnan got his first innings in Fisheries economics as a research scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Deohi, during 1973-1978. He acquired his Ph.d. degree in Economics from the Cochin University of science and Techonology in 1988. His pioneering works, Technology change and the Development of Marine Fishing Industry in India, Economics of Fisheries Management-A Critique in Third World Perspective, recreational fisheries Development in India, and coastal Zone Management- A study of the Political Economu of Sustainable Development (Vol. I and Vol. 2 ) were published in 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2005, respectively. Dr. Ramakrishnan has written extensively on fisheries economics and environmental issues in national and international academic journals and leading newspapers. The present work on the political economy of unsustainable development of Indian fisheries is his latest contribution.
