About The Author: Sanjay K. Roy is Professor in the Department of Sociology of North Bengal University. Prof. Roy has received his education from North Bengal University, Delhi School of Economics, Sussex University and Wollongong University (Australia). Dr. Roy has researched and published extensively on urban poor, refugees and human rights, gender issues and the adivasis. Among his important publications are Refugees and Human Rights: Social and Political Dynamics of Refugee Problem in Eastern and North Eastern India (2001), Tribes, Education and Gender Question (2005), Methodological Question in Social Anthropology (2007), Work Participation of Tribal Women and Marginalization : The Case of Tribes in North Bengal (2008), and Changing Faces of Indian Women (2009). Rajatsubhra Mukhopadhyay is Professor in the Department of Sociology, North Bengal University. An M.Sc. and Ph. D. from Calcutta University, Professor Mukhopadhyay has been engaged in teaching and research for more than three decades. His areas of interest include Rural Sociology, Family and Kinship, Social Movements and Population Studies. He has published regularly in periodicals of national and international repute. Some of his recent publications are Society and Religion (2012), Ethnicity in India (2013), A Bibliography on the Rajbangsi and Related Topics (2013), and Some Early Accounts of the Rajbangsi and Allied Communities (2014).
