Based on latest curriculum framework 2014 developed by NCTE This book on "Childhood & Growing Up" has two parts and ten units. First part deals with the characteristics of child development. Under this, first chapter describe the growth and development patterns of learners, next chapter discusses stage of development in the special context of adolescence and need and problem of adolescents, third chapter discusses different types of development and various theory of development, fourth chapter deals with the importance of individual differences like heredity and environment in child development, next chapter emphasis on development of personality, its theory and briefly describe the standard tools which measures personality. Second part ofthis book deals with various aspects of development like instincts, emotional intelligence, in next chapter its talked about motivation and its type, next comes attention and its importance in education and various factors of attention like division of attention; span of attention, shifting of attention and distraction of attention. In next chapter book discusses the most important part of development l.e. intelligence and its measurement and lastly book describes the concept of creativity and its relationship with other aspects of development.
