Disability, Rehabilitation and Social Work: The Indian Scenario

The book is a collection of papers on disability written by the author over last two and half decades, alongside his association with many national and international organizations working in the area of disability and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) projects. CBR aims at rehabilitation of people with disability and enabling them to actively participate in local communities and access resources made available to them. The book discusses CBR as a strategy for the holistic rehabilitation of people with disability. The thrust of papers included in this volume is rehabilitation and disability attitudes in village communities. It overviews the disability scenario in India and discusses various possibilities of improving their quality of life.
