Diatoms in Alaska

"258 samples from 218 localities in Alaska are analysed for diatoms. A total of 987 taxa from 58 genera is shown. About 960 taxa are oligohalobe. 714 freshwater taxa are found in 164 littoral samples from the Northern Slope and Brooks Range. 677 are found in 39 bottom samples from major lakes. 457 in 32 littoral samples from Anchorage and 412 in 33 littoral samples from Fairbanks. 9 taxa are described as new species, 20 as new varieties and 16 as new formae. 589 taxa are depicted in 64 plates with ab. 880 photos.
