Critical Responses to Commonwealth Literature is a very humble attempt to present Indian and foreign responses to Commonwealth poetry, fiction, short story, drama and travelogue. The 21 contributors (working in various universities in India and Libya) have made this book valuable by way of their meaningful research and responses. African poet Wole Soyinka, novelist Nadine Gordimer, dramatist Soyinka have been taken by 4 contributors. Australian novelist Sir Patrick White and dramatist Jack Davis have been researched by 2 contributors. Canadian novelist At Wood and Mordecai Richler have been analysed by 2 contributors. Caribbean novelist, Garcia Marquez has been taken for research by an academic. Indian poets Kama I a Das, Sri Aurobindo, Sarvajna have been dealt with by 3 contributors. Indian novelists Bharati Mukherjee, Arun Joshi, Anita Desai, K.S. Venkataramani have been researched by 4 contributors. Indian dramatists Girish Karnad, Dattani, VijayTendulkarand Basavaraj Naikar have been taken by 3 contributors. Poets from Sri Lanka have been taken for analysis by an academic. The West Indies Travelogue writer, V.S. Naipaul has been preferred by another academic. The twenty one critical responses throw much more light on the different aspects of Commonwealth literature in a simple and understandable style which can be of immense use to the teachers, researchers and students of Commonwealth literature.
