I have gone through the Research work entitled, “Contact and Conflict: A Contextual Survival Strategy of Delta”, written by Krishna Basu, who in her words conducted “a rigorous research effort among the bygone migrant tribal people of the Sundarban Delta”. This work is an ample proof that Mrs Basu is not only an avid scholar but also a devoted anthropologist who is always very eager to explore and unravel the mystery surrounding the colourful and mysterious children of nature, the tribal people who are interspersed in different parts of India and have continued not only to survive but also to live an almost joyous life in the midst of vagaries and hazards of nature. Influenced by surrounding nature, these people have created their tales and legends of their origin, their cults and faiths, their beliefs and superstitions and their taboos, tattoos and totems
