Bioprocess and Bioproducts: Technology Trends and Opportunities

This book is the outcome of an Indo-US Conference on 'Bioprocess and Bioproducts: Technology Trends and Opportunities1 held at Hyderabad during November 27-28, 2008. Eminent speakers from US and India had participated and presented technical papers in the aforesaid conference. In recent times, there has been increasing global awareness on impact of chemicals on human health and environment, thus leading to a paradigm shift in the policies and approaches of various countries to emphasize on bio-based processes and products development. Bioproducts derived from sustainable bio-resources are emerging areas, which are receiving much attention due to the potential impact of these technologies in terms of environment friendliness due to low energy intensive operations, optimal utilization of bio-resources and enhancement of rural economy coupled with employment generation etc.
