Textbook resources on the analysis of drugs of abuse are currently very limited and some of the resources available (that is United Nations texts, US Drug Enforcement Administration Training Manual) are not readily available to the general public due to their restricted distribution. There is therefore a need for a book that could be used in many teaching programmed in pharmaceutical analysis, forensic sciences and analytical chemistry. Current books are also either too simplistic or are more of a reference, whereas this proposed book gives more practical information, such as on how to carry out the analysis, what the results of the analyses mean and how the results can be used as court evidence and for drugs intelligence purposes. This book also presents the recent new developments which have taken place in sampling and drug profilingTable of Contents:Series PrefacePrefaceAcronyms, Abbreviations and SymbolsAbout the AuthorIntroduction to Drug Trends, Control, Legislation and AnalysisAmphetamine and Related CompoundsThe Analysis of LSDCannabis sativa and ProductsDiamorphine and HeroinCocaineProducts from Catha edulis and Lophophora williamsiiThe Analysis of Psilocybin and Psilocin from FungiThe Analysis of Controlled Pharmaceutical Drugs - Barbiturates and BenzodiazepinesCurrent Status, Summary and ConclusionsAppendicesAppendix 1 - Presumptive (Colour) TestsAppendix 2 - Less-Common Controlled SubstancesResponses to Self-Assessment QuestionsBibliographyGlossary of TermsSI Units and Physical ConstantsPeriodic TableIndex
