The present anthology on Indian Literature in English is devoted exclusively to the rich tradition of mythology and oral literature of Indias indigenous peoples. It comprises 21 selected research papers on the creative writings by contemporary Indian writers. The essays in this volume seek to find connection between philosophic systems of the religious tradition and the beliefs, myths and rituals that occupy the lives of people belonging to those traditions. The present study also aims to provide a wealth of information on contemporary regional writings in India. This work is designed as a springboard for new research, and it is hoped that it would be a valuable addition in the area of the study of myth and folklore in literature.
