Folk Medicine and Aromatic Plants of Uttaranchal

The book entitled “Folk-Medicine and Aromatic Plants of Uttaranchal” is an account of folk medicinal plants used in human and animal healthcare in Uttaranchal. The main text deals with 1338 ethnomedicinal plants and 364 ethno-veterinary plants followed by diversity of MAPs, MAPs available in Uttaranchal used in Indian System of Medicines (ISM), biologically active MAPs, rare and threatened MAPs, ethno-medico-zoological wisdom and alternative systems of therapies prevailing in Uttaranchal. In addition the book includes nine appendices pertaining to patenting, medicinal plant gardens and nurseries, cultivated MAPs, herbalists, ethnobotanists, glossary of medicinal terms. Indices of botanical names, zoological names and vernacular/local names have also been provided. This book will act as a ready reckoner for academicians, policy makers, researchers, Ayurvedic physicians and general readers.
